About the solution
Founded by Suzanne Zamany Andersen and Mattia Saccoccio in 2023, NitroVolt is pioneering green ammonia technology to provide farmers with sustainable, on-site fertilizer production. This innovative approach uses renewable electricity, air, and water to synthesize ammonia, a critical resource for global food production, without the carbon intensity associated with the Haber-Bosch process. NitroVolt’s compact, container-sized system offers a resilient and scalable solution that is both environmentally friendly and accessible to farmers directly at the point-of-use.
NitroVolt’s technology addresses two major global challenges: the need for sustainable agricultural solutions and the resilience and sustainability of global food systems. Their solution helps transition the agricultural sector toward a decarbonized future, cutting down on the 500Mt of CO2 emissions associated with conventional ammonia production. As demand for food and fertilizer grows, particularly in regions most affected by climate change, NitroVolt’s solution ensures that farmers have access to a decentralized and consistent source of fertilizer at a competitive price.
Beyond agriculture, Nitrovolt’s green ammonia technology holds the potential to decarbonize a number of industry applications contributing to global net-zero targets.
EQT Foundation's Investment
The EQT Deal Team will support NitroVolt on the scaling and business development fronts by leveraging EQT’s commercial and sustainability expertise and helping with connections to the broader agricultural and chemical network within EQT. The deal team also introduced NitroVolt to the EY Amplifier program, an impact-focused acceleration program, and they were admitted to this fall’s cohort.
