About the solution
Founded by environmental scientist Katherine French, BluumBio is pioneering a new generation of bioremediation technologies that harness the power of nature to clean up some of the world’s most persistent pollutants. Using a proprietary microbial platform and growing genetic database, BluumBio develops freeze-dried bio-based products that break down hazardous substances, including petroleum hydrocarbons, PFAS, PCBs, and plastics, without the environmental cost of conventional methods like excavation, chemical injection, or thermal treatment.
With a mission to restore ecosystems and protect human health, BluumBio is bringing to market scalable, site-adaptable solutions that dramatically reduce cleanup times and costs. Across their 3 product lines, products have demonstrated 70%-99% breakdown of industrial chemicals in as little as 2 days for wastewater and 28 days for soil , with paid pilots already underway and full commercialization planned in the near term.
By offering safer, faster, and lower-cost remediation methods, BluumBio’s approach is unlocking new opportunities for land reuse, biodiversity recovery, and sustainable development, especially as environmental regulations tighten and demand for clean land and water accelerates globally.
EQT Foundation's Investment
